RØDE Wireless Micro Bluetooth iOS Update Adds Direct Pairing with iPhones

RØDE has released a firmware update that adds Bluetooth pairing for iPhones to its compact Wireless Micro system. Available now via the free RØDE Capture app, the RØDE Wireless Micro Bluetooth iOS connectivity eliminates the need for a physical receiver when recording to iOS devices.

The update streamlines mobile workflows for content creators using the RØDE Wireless Micro. Users can now connect the system’s transmitters directly to their iPhones via Bluetooth—no need for USB-C or Lightning adapters.

RØDE Wireless Micro Bluetooth iOS pairing now possible via firmware update

The new Direct Connect feature allows Wireless Micro transmitters to pair directly with iPhones using Bluetooth LE. Until now, iOS users needed to connect a dedicated Lightning receiver to capture audio. This update removes that requirement entirely, offering a cleaner, more flexible mobile setup.

RØDE CEO Damien Wilson described the release as a response to user feedback: “With Direct Connect, we’re making content creation more seamless than ever. It’s true wireless freedom with full control from your phone.”

The firmware update also enhances the RØDE Capture app with tools aimed at improving recording quality. A new noise reduction feature helps suppress ambient noise and can be toggled independently for each transmitter. Users can now also choose between merged or split recording modes—either combining both sources into one stereo track or isolating each for post-production.

Additionally, a new gain control feature allows users to adjust input levels directly within the app—useful for balancing levels in changing environments without needing external accessories.

RØDE Wireless Micro remains a highly portable iOS recording solution

The Wireless Micro includes two transmitters with built-in omnidirectional mics, integrated windshields, and a compact charging case that extends battery life up to 21 hours. It’s available in both USB-C and Lightning versions and has been praised for its ease of use and professional-grade sound.

This update follows the Wireless Micro’s recent win in Rolling Stone’s 2025 Audio Awards as Best Microphone, further reinforcing its reputation as one of the most accessible pro audio tools for mobile creators.

The firmware on the device can be updated using the RØDE Central Mobile or Desktop app, and a full guide on how to do it can be found here.
